The Third Annual Smith River Basin Tree Plant is coming up fast. This is a great opportunity for our local Trout Unlimited chapter to work in conjunction with BLM, ODFW, USFS and PURS to restore stream-side habitat in the Smith River basin. This habitat is crucial for steelhead and salmon recovery. After this planting TU volunteers will have helped plant over 7500 trees in the Smith River basin. Gear and lunch will be provided Dean Finerty TU SW Oregon SCP. Transportation logistics will be arranged once we have a head count.

What we would like from you: Trout Unlimited volunteers who are available March 30/31.  Have appropriate clothing for the weather. Some volunteers will need to bring waders to cross small streams.

If you haven’t seen the Smith River it is a beautiful area. Last year during the tree planting wild steelhead were observed moving up and down Vincent creek. Wild juvenile salmon were also seen. Once again this is great opportunity to help a local area watershed on the mend.  So come out meet some other TU members and have some fun with us. Also at the end of each planting day there will be an opportunity to fish for steelhead with a prize going to the biggest steelhead caught.
