Join us for a fun and relaxing fly tying night with The Redsides! It’s the perfect time to add some more patterns to your arsenal. Bring your vice and materials or just come hang out and see what folks are cooking up. We’re moving April’s meeting to the second Monday of the month due to the Trout Unlimited Western Regional being in Eugene Friday-Sunday, April 1-3, along with the NCAA Basketball Championship on Monday, April 4. We’ll move back to our regular first-Monday-of-the-month meeting time for the May 2nd meeting. Also, in the interest of space and better lightning, we’ll hold Fly Tying Night at Roaring Rapids Pizza in Glenwood.

See you there!

3rd Annual Smith River Riparian Planting Event

Please consider joining us for our 3rd annual Smith River Riparian Planting event.

Volunteers from Trout Unlimited and the Smith River Watershed Council will help BLM plant conifers and willow stakes along excavator access roads constructed for wood placement sites on tributaries to the upper Smith River. We will plant sites along Russel Creek, Bum Creek, and North Sisters.

Planting will take place March 30th and 31st. Plan to meet at 9:00 both days at the junction of the Smith River Road and South Sisters Road (BLM Road number 20-8-17.0). See attached map for meeting location or let me know if you need directions.

Bring your own gloves, boots, hardhat, water, and lunch. We’ll provide the trees and shovels. Think sun!

This habitat is crucial for steelhead and salmon recovery. After this planting TU volunteers will have helped plant over 7500 trees in the Smith River basin. Gear and lunch will be provided Dean Finerty TU SW Oregon SCP. Transportation logistics will be arranged once we have a head count. (more…)
