In all seriousness, we are excited to get out on the river! We have a training planned to keep you safe and maximize your eyes out on the water! The training will be held on the river for some real time experience with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.
Please plan to join us for one of the following training dates on the Smith:
· March 12th, 10:30am-12:30pm: Returning redd survey volunteers
· March 26th, 10:30am-1pm: Redd survey volunteers
Please register for a training by contacting me (LBeranek@tu.org; 907-205-0974). Carpooling may be an option. Once you are registered, I will provide detailed location information as well as how to best prepare for the training and answer any questions you may have.

Join us for an evening with Dean Finnerty as he shares a presentation about the Smith River. Dean will talk about conservation and restoration work to include:
And will also share a fishing report along with tips for fishing winter steelhead on the Smith.
The member meeting is open to the public. Invite your friends!
The meeting will be followed by a short board meeting. TU Members are welcome to attend.
Join trained volunteers as we go out to look for steelhead redds in the West Fork of the Smith River. Starting in February, volunteers will walk river sections on a regular basis to collect information that would otherwise be unknown.
Redds are extremely sensitive nesting areas and surveys allow for a better
understanding of steelhead populations for future management without
causing harm to the fish. All of the training will be provided. To learn
